Battle Beasts (1987)

Hasbro's Battle Beasts brought Takara's Beastformers to the West: two-inch armored animal warriors, each with its own weapon. A heat-sensitive chest rub revealed fire, wood or water, turning the figures into a rock-paper-scissors game. Seventy-six beasts across three series were followed by the Shadow Warriors, sold as Laser Beasts in Japan.
